I've spent over a decade working with trees, and I still get excited every time I step onto a new property. There's always a story in the landscape: how the trees have grown, what they've survived, and what they need to thrive. Reading that story and helping property owners write the next chapter is what I love most about this work.
My path to arboriculture wasn't a straight line, but looking back, it makes perfect sense. I've always been drawn to the outdoors, to growing things, and to understanding how natural systems work. Trees became my focus because they sit at the intersection of science, stewardship, and real-world problem solving.
When I'm not consulting, you'll find me in my garden. There's something grounding about getting your hands in the soil and watching things grow. I find that the same patience required for gardening serves me well in arboriculture, where the best solutions often unfold over seasons and years rather than days.
My corgi, Redbud, sometimes supervises site visits and has become surprisingly good at spotting squirrels in client trees. She's named after one of my favorite native Oklahoma species, and yes, she has strong opinions about which trees are worth investigating. Clients seem to enjoy her enthusiasm, and she's become something of an unofficial mascot for Dendro Consulting.
I'm based in Norman, Oklahoma, though my work takes me across the region and sometimes beyond. I hold the BCMA, RCA, CTSP, and TRAQ credentials, representing years of study, examination, and continued education. But credentials only tell part of the story. What drives me is a genuine curiosity about trees and a commitment to giving every client honest, thoughtful guidance.
Trees matter. They're living connections to place and time, providing shade, beauty, habitat, and value to the properties they inhabit. Whether I'm helping a homeowner understand why their beloved oak is struggling or working with a developer to preserve mature trees through construction, I bring the same care and attention to every project. It's not just what I do. It's who I am.
